POCUS IOTW: Positive FAST

Posted on: July 9, 2018, by :
This was a teenager who came in after tauma with CPR in progress. He was found to have a positive FAST. The FAST views include the RUQ, LUQ, pelvis, and subxiphoid view of the heart. This is the RUQ view showing significant free fluid (likely hemoperitoneum) in Morison’s Pouch. Sometimes the fluid is subtle, so make sure to scan to the inferior pole of the kidney and the tip of the liver.
