I’m from a small town outside of Grand Rapids, Michigan, but always had my eye on New York. I moved to the Big Apple to pursue a degree in Biology from Columbia University and one in Biblical Literature from the Jewish Theological Seminary. I had the intention of becoming a Rabbi or Science teacher, however, I found my passion for medicine while volunteering as an EMT for an ambulance corps. As a medical student at Stony Brook University, I discovered my love for basic science while performing research on the effects of hyperoxia in a neonatal lung model. I completed a HHMI fellowship at the NIH during medical school, during which I reaffirmed my love for bench and translational research. I spent some time during the spring of my fourth year of medical school working at a mother-child clinic in Kolkata, India, where I fell in love with both international medicine and my husband! After completing residency at Cornell, we decided to move back to the DC area. In my free time, I love traveling, exploring all the amazing food and culture in DC, and spending time with my family and friends.
