While this mini blurb is about the Ebola case in Dallas, it’s more a caution to the licensed provider (MD/NP/PA) to read the triage note on every patient that we see.

  1. I think that reading the comments on the article are almost more interesting than the article itself. A lot of good points are raised — so much gets lost in the “garbage” of the EMR. I think it would be useful to have some sort of “this is abnormal” button that you could flag anything in your commentary to make it bold or red or something. EHRs are great at flagging abnormal lab values, etc, but there should be some sort of manual flag you can put in that shows up. Also — I think some EMRs are easier to see all of the nursing documentation line up with the physician’s, and some you have to do a lot of “digging” to get the info — changes could be made to improve this problem.
